PROJECT LEAD | Sachi S. (they/she) recently graduated with their BA in Psychology and Sociology. Many of you are familiar with their online activism work. Sachi founded Dunyazad Project, handles the back end of the site, & oversees the editorial team.

EDITOR | Gabriela Merida (she/her/ella) is a PhD student in Latin American, Caribbean, and U.S. Latina/o Studies at the University at Albany, SUNY. She recently graduated with her BA in Political Science and Ethnic Studies at the University of Utah. Gabriela is involved in labor and political organizing at the university and community level.

EDITOR | Sumera (they/them) is a queer Muslim student organizer living in NYC. They are a freelance writer and when not editing or organizing, they can be found hiking, crocheting, or listening to music.

EDITOR | Hazel (she/her) is a recent college graduate passionate about liberation and resistance, especially the ways South Asian movements and photography tell stories of resistance. “I am excited to join this project as an editor and contribute to building a space where our voices and struggles come alive together.”

EDITOR | Shamaila M. is a future social worker whose practice is rooted in an anti-oppressive, intersectional, and anti-colonial framework. “I recognize the importance of accessing anti-colonial and anti-imperalist literature, especially when considering the reality of rising censorship in our communities. It is therefore imperative for us to reject the notion that colonialism is a thing of the past rather than an ongoing reality of survival and resistance.”

EDITOR | Madhura (they/them) is a lover of cats, wooden trinkets, thinking about sociolinguistics, and deciding to read in the park but getting distracted by a pigeon. Their life’s purpose seems to be loudly rejecting the enforcement of colonial “standard” variations of language, instead encouraging translanguaging (and transgenderism). They are currently on unceded Pawtucket lands in “Boston.”
